Job Title: Senior Manager of Intellectual Property

We are partnering with a global pharmaceutical leader to identify a Senior Manager - IP professional.

The position will report to the Head of Intellectual Property and will be responsible for managing a team of 5-8 IP professionals.

The successful candidate will work on a wide variety of intellectual property matters, including product clearance, patent filing and prosecution, patent litigation, and licensing/due diligence. They will also lead a team in a dynamic environment and deliver results in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage the growing portfolio of IP assets
  • Enforce optimal and timely protection of intellectual property processes
  • Work closely with Global IP Head, Research and Development, and Portfolio teams to:
  • Identify products for introduction into development grids
  • Develop and execute effective product development strategies for the portfolio
  • Identify patentable inventions and provide guidance on patentability
  • Draft patents, freedom to operate reports, infringement and validity analysis, risk assessment and mitigation strategies
  • File and prosecute inventive solutions to build significant wealth of intellectual property
  • Monitor and evaluate third-party scientific and patent publications
  • Provide IP-related inputs to support legal agreements and negotiations
  • Partner with other legal and business functions to provide strategic advice and strategy in connection with M&A transactions, licensing agreements, research collaborations, adverse proceedings, and litigation activities
  • Manage patent, trademark, copyright, and related issues
  • Maintain accurate records of inventions, know-how, trade secrets, and registered intellectual property
  • Educate management and scientists on best practices for protecting inventions and intellectual property
  • Lead, empower, and coach a team of IP professionals
  • Prepare budgets for the function
