
Retail Operations Specialist

The role of a retail operations manager is crucial for the success of any retail business. This position involves overseeing the day-to-day activities of a team of store managers, ensuring that they meet sales targets and maintain brand standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Implementing visual merchandising and layouts in stores as per brand guidelines.
- Monitoring daily sales performance across stores and providing support to store teams where needed.
- Assisting in merchandise planning and providing inputs to improve assortment and stock mix.
- Leveraging local store data to support revenue growth.
- Ensuring timely execution of promotions, markdowns, and pricing operations.
Operational Excellence:
- Ensuring operational consistency and compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Conducting frequent store visits to assess stock accuracy, service standards, and visual merchandising.
- Supporting store openings and minor refurbishments within the assigned area.
- Guiding stores in implementing marketing and brand initiatives at the ground level.
- Ensuring stores comply with audit, hygiene, and mystery shopper requirements.
Cost Control and Management:
- Reviewing store-level P&L reports with managers and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Monitoring key expense heads such as manpower, utilities, and consumables.
- Recommending and overseeing small-scale store maintenance or repair spends within approved limits.
- Minimizing shrinkage by reinforcing stock management processes and loss prevention measures.
Management and Support:
- Supervising and supporting Store Managers in day-to-day operations.
- Acting as a coach to build team capability and ensure optimal staffing across stores.
- Encouraging recognition and accountability, promoting a positive work environment.
- Collaborating with HR to support hiring, onboarding, and training within the area.
Service and Brand Standards:
- Promoting a strong customer-first culture across all stores.
- Reviewing store feedback and customer complaints to drive service improvements.
- Maintaining brand integrity through consistent store presentation, grooming, and adherence to VM guidelines.
Deliverables:
- Achievement of sales and service metrics across the area.
- Strong store-level operational compliance and SOP adherence.
- Improved profitability through cost controls and low shrinkage.
- Engaged and trained teams with high performance and low attrition.
- Positive customer experience and consistent brand representation.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in retail management, with a minimum of 2 years in a multi-store or area management role.
- A Bachelor's and Master's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field is preferred.
