Job Description

The Cost Manager is responsible for analyzing and managing costs to ensure accurate product pricing, manufacturing overheads, and cost of goods sold (COGS). This involves performing detailed variance analysis, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, and providing recommendations for process improvements.

Budgeting & Forecasting

The ideal candidate will prepare comprehensive budgets that align with the company's financial goals and strategic objectives. They will regularly update and forecast costs based on business dynamics, collaborating with key departments for timely inputs.

Expenditure against budgeted figures will be monitored, and corrective action will be taken where necessary.

Cost Reporting

Detailed costing reports, including variance analysis and insights on cost trends, will be provided to senior management. Key cost drivers will be highlighted, and actionable recommendations for improvement will be offered.

Inventory Management

Accurate inventory valuation using appropriate costing methods will be ensured. Processes will be implemented to minimize inventory obsolescence, improve inventory turnover, and ensure accurate inventory records.

Internal Controls & Compliance

Adherence to accounting standards, financial regulations, and internal controls related to costing, inventory, and financial reporting will be ensured. Accurate and comprehensive costing and inventory data will be provided for audits.

Process Improvement

Costing methods and accounting processes will be continuously assessed to identify improvements for enhanced efficiency and accuracy. New systems or tools may be developed and integrated for better cost tracking, data analysis, and reporting.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Costing and forecasting data will be gathered from production, procurement, and supply chain teams to inform pricing decisions, product profitability analysis, and overall business strategy.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of SAP, cost accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting. Analytical and problem-solving skills are also essential, along with excellent organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills.

A high level of attention to detail and accuracy is required, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment is also essential.
