Job Summary

A highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer with a strong background in Civil Engineering is required to lead design efforts on large industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have over 12 years of experience in estimation, engineering coordination, front-end, and detailed design of structures and foundations. Proficiency in 3D modeling tools such as PDS, Frameworks, S3D, Tekla, Naviswork, SPR, and industry-standard Structural and Finite Element Analysis packages such as STAAD Pro, GTStrudl, SAP, ETABS, and Midas is essential.

This is a part-time telework position with a requirement for in-person attendance at the assigned office or project at least three days a week. Weekly schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals, design criteria, specifications, budget, and schedules for projects of varying complexity.
  • Performs finite element modeling and structural analysis of various steel and concrete structures.
  • Reviews bid analyses and makes recommendations.
  • Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
  • Reviews and checks the work of junior team members and provides input for their performance evaluation.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 4-year degree from an accredited college in Civil Engineering.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's degree in a relevant subject.
  • 12+ years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Possesses a broad understanding of major design engineering deliverables.
  • Plays, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of engineering work.
  • Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Performs work using standard application programs and appropriate computer-aided design and computer-aided engineering (CAD and CAE) tools.
  • Coordinates engineering effort in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors, and between other groups.
  • Understanding of engineering planning and control methods, including computerized methods.
  • Understanding of the roles played by other disciplines like Plant Layout and Piping, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, Geotech, and Construction, etc.
  • Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the engineering discipline.
  • Experience in leading a team of designers in EPC and/or big FEED projects.
  • Capable of planning, assigning, guiding, and monitoring work of team members.
  • Capable of assuring quality of design and associated deliverables.
  • Experience in design of flat slabs, cheese slabs, and dynamic analysis of structures shall be an added advantage.
