Dental Payment Processing Specialist

Job Description:

The Dental Payment Processing Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of payment processing for patients. This involves thoroughly reviewing electronic remittance advice (ERA), Explanation of Benefits (EOB), and other payment documentation to ensure financial data integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately post insurance payments, ERAs, and patient payments into dental billing software.
  • Reconcile deposits with bank statements and daily payment reports to verify all payments are accounted for.
  • Review EOBs and ERAs to identify discrepancies, underpayments, overpayments, and denials.
  • Flag and escalate trends or discrepancies in payment issues to relevant departments.
  • Post adjustments according to payer contracts and internal policies.
  • Maintain accurate patient accounts and balances.
  • Collaborate with appeals or collections teams for timely resolution of denied or unpaid claims.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Meet productivity and accuracy goals.
  • Collect and download EFTs and ERAs from insurance portals and clearinghouses.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience in payment posting.
  • Experience with dental management software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and numbers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Full English proficiency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and G-suite tools.
