Job Title:

Senior Data Engineer and Technical Leader

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Data Engineer with expertise in data architecture, cloud platforms, and big data technologies to lead our engineering team and drive the development of high-performant, scalable data systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain large-scale data architectures and pipelines using cutting-edge technologies such as AWS, EKS, and Apache Spark.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers to improve technical skills and promote knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Design and implement modular, flexible, secure, and reliable data systems that meet business requirements and scalability needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data solutions align with business objectives and meet regulatory compliance.
  • Instrumentation and Monitoring: Integrate pipeline observability to detect and resolve issues proactively.
  • Troubleshooting and Optimization: Develop tools and processes to debug, optimize, and maintain production systems.
  • Tech Debt Reduction: Identify and address legacy inefficiencies to improve performance and maintainability.
  • Documentation and Governance: Maintain clear documentation of data models, transformations, and pipelines to ensure security and governance compliance.
  • Cloud Expertise: Leverage advanced skills in cloud environments to build, deploy, and scale cloud-native data platforms.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor engineering teams to ensure operational efficiency and innovation.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team and across departments.

Requirements:

  • Data Architecture & Modelling: Design and oversee scalable data models, warehouses, and lakes.
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in languages like Python, SQL, and Scala for data processing and pipeline development.
  • Databases: Deep understanding of SQL, NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB), and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL).
  • Cloud Platforms: Expertise in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Big Data Technologies: Experience with tools like Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, and Snowflake.
  • CI/CD & Automation: Familiarity with DevOps practices for efficient deployment and management.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and communicate technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
