Technical Program Manager Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for delivering programs with significant complexity and/or broad cross-organizational impact.

Key responsibilities include managing large product, process, and engineering efforts that solve complex problems, operating with complete independence, and being trusted to focus on areas where business and technical strategy has not yet been defined.

You will effectively partner with all levels of leadership, building consensus and representing complex decisions, trade-offs, and potential solutions clearly to leaders up to 3 levels above.

Additionally, you will influence organization priorities, system owners, business, and technology direction, manage cross-functional communication, and recognize when current programs are susceptible to prior failure patterns.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Basic qualifications:

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
  • Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
  • Experience managing projects across cross-functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience defining KPIs/SLAs used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
