Energy Consultant Job Description

The role of the Energy Consultant involves supporting clients in navigating the complex power sector regulatory landscape.

  • Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist clients in executing assignments related to Regulatory, Policy, Tariff (MYT filing), PPA approvals, optimization of fuel cost or Commercial related matters pertaining to Generation, and Distribution Utilities.
  • Manage bid process for procurement of power for distribution licensees.
  • Prepare papers/concepts on initiatives/projects, assess internal feasibility, and advise on Amendments in Regulations, Acts, Policies, and Plans.
  • Provide periodic review of regulatory developments in SERC/CERC/CEA/MOP.
  • Deliver PowerPoint presentations to top management clients during webinars/seminars.
  • Role Expectations:
  • Stay updated on energy policies, regulations, and incentives particularly related to power generation, power purchase, renewable energy, etc.
  • Analyze policy implications, assess their impact on project development, and provide recommendations to clients.
  • Work closely with clients to understand requirements, provide consulting services, and deliver solutions aligned with their objectives.
  • Assist in client presentations, prepare reports, and effectively communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Support execution of projects in coordination with team leaders and team members ensuring timely submission of quality deliverables.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in financial and tariff modeling specific to the power sector.
  • Hands-on experience in working on policy, regulations, regulatory due-diligence, PPA approvals, Fuel cost-related analysis, credit rating, etc. for Govt./Private power Utilities.
  • Ability to multitask on assignments and deliver in a typical consulting environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team.
