AVS Technical Lead

Job Description

This role involves overseeing complex infrastructure deployments and migrations for large enterprise customers moving from on-premises VMware environments to Azure VMware Solution.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with program managers and service delivery teams to plan, architect, and guide infrastructure deployments and migrations.
  • Work directly with customer application infrastructure and security stakeholders to define requirements, strategy, and processes for successful design deployment migrations.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest Azure AVS and VMware products to propose designs to customers and act as a subject matter trainer for other specialists.
  • Share knowledge with others through solution documents, engage technical communities, build automated self-help solutions, and create training materials.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in architecting and designing data centre and cloud infrastructures using VMware and Microsoft technologies.
  • Knowledge and implementation experience designing and developing solutions using VMware's Core Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Required skills:
    • Azure VMware Solution
    • VMware vSphere 6.0 and above
    • VMware NSXT network virtualization technologies: NSX edge services, DNS, DHCP, Gateway, Firewall, Distributed Firewall
    • NSX implementation
    • NSX migration from VLAN or NSX-v
    • VMware vSAN
    • VMware HCX Advanced Enterprise
    • Preferred skills:
      • VMware Site Recovery Manager
      • VMware management suite: vCD, vROps, vRNI, vRLI
      • VMware Cloud Director
      • Experience with on-premises-to-cloud or cloud-to-cloud migrations using VMware HCX
      • Experience with relevant Azure technologies: Azure ExpressRoute, Azure VPN, Azure Virtual WAN, Azure Route Server, Azure networking
      • Preferred skills:
        • Azure Disk Pools
        • Azure NetApp Files
        • Azure Monitoring and Security technologies: Monitor, Arc, Security Center
        • 3rd party network virtual appliances, firewalls, load balancers, routers for Azure and VMware environments
      • Experience and good understanding of leading cloud management systems and solutions
      • Strong core platform architecture concepts: hardware, platform, hypervisor, Networking, security, data protection, high availability, monitoring, ing, patching, etc.
      • Familiarity with security compliance standards across various enterprise IT landscapes
      • Experience with Azure hosting or infrastructure background and public cloud highly desired
      • Good understanding of data centre networking fabric topologies and common architectures deployed both Layer 2 and Layer 3 based is highly desired
      • Strong presentation, influencing, and communication skills

Education Qualifications

  • BS or postgraduate degree in Computer Science or technology-focused discipline or equivalent experience
  • VCDX-DCVCMA certification is preferred but not required
  • CCDP, CCNP, VCP-NV certification is preferred but not required

  • Experience working with enterprise customers on Azure-specific solutions and deployment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with corporate customers, possess an understanding of the onboarding process, and demonstrate a vision for the future
  • Excellent customer service skills, good oral and written communication skills, proven ability to handle difficult and sensitive situations involving critical and politically charged customer situations to lead projects and motivate others
