Senior Associate, Investment Operations Specialist

Job Summary:
Ares Asia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate to join its Investment Operations department in Mumbai. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations and oversight of SEBI registered Alternate Investment Funds (AIF) and other funds and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) in various Ares jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Investment and Divestment activities, including scheduling IC committee meetings, preparation of minutes and resolutions, Deal KYC, Obtaining Trustee consents, etc.
- Manage daily operations of AIF Funds according to the Fund Documents and coordinate with the fund administrator and Investors.
- Stakeholder management (trustees, bankers, custodians, fund accounting professionals, tax advisors, legal advisors, and other stakeholders) on a timely basis.
- Cashflow monitoring and reporting from underlying portfolio companies.
- Ensure integrity and maintenance of financial records of AIF, including banking, reconciliations & expense payments.
- Assist in statutory and other regulatory audit processes (including inspection from regulatory bodies) and ensure seamless closure within the timelines.
- Ensure timeliness of various tax filings as required for the AIF, including tax payments, tax returns, and other activities as required as per tax regulations applicable.
- Ensure investor reporting within the timeframe agreed in the documents/ regulations, including MIS management for financial performance.
- Calculate, review, and manage investor distributions as per Fund documents.
- Assist in the valuation exercise of the Fund portfolio companies.
- Assist deal & AM teams in activities required for asset management of portfolio investments.
- Assist AIF manager entity with tasks such as time allocations, presentations & income projections.
- Assist in setting up new AIF / schemes.
- Investor Activities, including onboarding, KYC, drawdowns.
- Assist in any strategic matters across entities.
- Keep abreast with the changing regulations and analyze its impact on the existing operations.
- Assist Compliance / legal team in Fund documentation.
Requirements:
- 6 to 10 years of experience.
- Prior experience/knowledge of AIF/SEBI regulations/IFSCA is preferred.
- Previous fund finance or fund administration experience.
- Chartered Accountant (preferred) / semi-qualified CA / MBA / PG.

- Ability to analyze and summarize complex information both verbally and in writing.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; attention to detail; ability to multi-task and manage various deadlines.
- Knowledge of financial markets and instruments preferred.
- Requires day-to-day use of MS Office applications (with advanced skills in Excel preferred).
