Job Title:

Sr. SQL Database Architect

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
  • Database Operations Expertise: Leverage deep knowledge of installing, configuring, managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting various SQL versions (SQL 2005 – SQL 2022).
  • Patching Hierarchy: Develop clarity on SQL Build numbers and internal database build numbers.
  • Version Upgrades: Upgrade and migrate SQL Server from older versions to newer versions efficiently.
  • Linked Servers: Configure linked servers between same or different SQL Server versions.
  • Contained Databases: Set up contained databases for effective migrations and utilize them effectively.
  • Recovery Models: Configure recovery models and design backup strategies that meet business needs.
  • Backup Strategies: Fine-tune backups using Backup Encryption, Compression, and special parameters.
  • Database Corruption Handling: Handle master, model, MSDB, TEMPDB, and Resource database corruptions professionally.
  • High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Configure High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions like HADR, Log Shipping, Mirroring, Clustering, Always-On AG & Replication.
  • Windows Cluster Management: Have hands-on knowledge of Windows Cluster, Quorum, Dynamic Quorum, Voting Mechanism, Failovers through Cluster Administrator and commands.
  • Cluster Parameters: Manage advanced Cluster Parameters like Failure Condition Level, Health check timeouts, patching clustered instances.
  • Always-On AG Configuration: Configure Always-On AG on standalone instances across Windows Cluster in Synchronous mode and Asynchronous mode.
  • Advanced Always-On AG Scenarios: Handle advanced Always-On AG scenarios like failover, adding new data/log files, understanding of Lease Timeout, Health check timeout, and Failure Condition Level parameters.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Deep SQL Knowledge: Strong knowledge of SQL Server Architecture, T-SQL, Triggers, and Procedures.
  • HA/DR Solutions Administration: Administer and configure HA/DR solutions.
  • Replication Configuration: Configure and manage replication.
  • Patch Management: Effectively manage patches.
  • Always On AG Scenarios: Understand and handle Always On AG scenarios – Failover.
  • Server Capacity Monitoring: Monitor, analyze, and tune server capacity.
  • Automation: Automate tasks using scripts and tools in the area of Backup, Monitoring, Resource Utilization, HA alerts, capacity plan management.
  • SQL Tuning: Tune SQL Server for optimal performance.
