Senior Backend Developer Lead

Job Title:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager / Senior Java professional to take ownership of both technical execution and project management responsibilities.

This role combines Java backend development expertise with project leadership and client-facing skills, ideal for professionals who enjoy working at the intersection of technology and delivery.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience, along with a proven ability to manage client expectations, gather requirements, track progress, and collaborate with development managers and leads to define technical schedules and delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate requirement gathering sessions, translate business requirements into actionable technical tasks.
• Work on Apache Spark-based batch jobs and large-scale data processing pipelines
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries, procedures, and database objects in Oracle
• Act as the primary point of contact for client stakeholders—understand their needs, capture requirements, and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Track project status, manage risks and issues, and ensure alignment with timelines and deliverables.
• Work closely with development managers, leads, and QA teams to define schedules, allocate resources, and make key implementation decisions.
• Contribute to design discussions, architecture reviews, and enforce coding standards and best practices.
• Support the development team in troubleshooting issues and resolving production defects effectively.
• Maintain clear and concise project documentation, status reports, and release plans.
• Coordinate and support production releases in collaboration with DevOps and QA teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience with strong backend system design exposure.
• Expertise in Oracle SQL and relational databases; ability to write and optimize complex queries and procedures.
• Experience with batch processing systems and exposure to Apache Spark or equivalent large-scale data processing frameworks.
• Strong understanding of job scheduling tools such as Control-M or Autosys.
• Excellent client interaction and communication skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders and negotiate priorities.
• Experience in project tracking, delivery management, and coordinating across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Proven ability to work in Agile or iterative delivery environments.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on delivery ownership.

Nice to Have:

• Exposure to project management tools like Jira, Confluence, or MS Project.
• Experience in enterprise systems, especially within financial services or data-centric environments.
• Familiarity with Agile ceremonies and software delivery metrics.
• Background in managing onshore-offshore delivery models.
