Our organization is seeking a dynamic leader to fill the role of Head of Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the academic, research, and administrative functions within the Life Sciences department.

The Head of Department will play a key role in driving strategic direction, fostering faculty and student development, enhancing curriculum quality, and promoting innovative research activities.

Below are the key responsibilities and qualifications required for this position:

  • Academic Leadership:
    • Define and implement a clear strategic vision for the Life Sciences department, aligned with the university's mission and goals.
  • Faculty Management:
    • Mentor, evaluate, and support faculty members' professional development, research, and teaching effectiveness.
  • Curriculum Oversight:
    • Lead curriculum development, review, and enhancement at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, integrating modern teaching practices and industry standards.
  • Student Engagement:
    • Oversee student mentorship, advising, and extracurricular programs. Facilitate industry partnerships for internships, guest lectures, and experiential learning.
  • Research Promotion:
    • Encourage and support faculty and student participation in research projects, grant acquisition, and scholarly publications.
  • Administration:
    • Manage departmental operations, accreditation processes, budgeting, and resource allocation effectively.

Key qualifications for this role include:

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Life Sciences.
  • Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Life Sciences are required.

Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in Life Sciences, with at least 10 years in academic teaching and research. They should also possess strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience with online and blended learning methodologies, a demonstrated commitment to pedagogical innovation, and strong knowledge of current trends and challenges in Life Sciences education and industry.
