Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Shielded Metal Arc Welder to join our team. As a Shielded Metal Arc Welder, you will be responsible for welding metal sheets using shielded metal arc welding equipment.

Responsibilities:

· Recognize and follow daily welding chart specifications for metal sheets laid out by the supervisor to ensure that welding work complies with specifications provided and activities are completed as per timelines, quality, health and safety standards of the division.
• Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment, in order to ensure safety and well-being of workers working in that environment.
• Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals in order to ensure minimum wastage of materials and its effective utilization.
• Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure so that desired flames are obtained for conducting welding/fitting activities.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Follow all relevant sections' or departments' policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
• Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes, and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement, and cost reduction.
• Maintain an awareness of all health and safety rules applying to assigned tasks and tools to ensure that safe working practices are observed.
• Maintain competence in the use of all tools or equipment required for assigned works.

Requirements:

· Technical school/vocational in welding.

· Diploma in welding is preferred.

· Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in welding I shipyard pipe welding all diameters.

· Able to weld pipe to ASME IX, ABS, BV standards, 6G, and 6GR.

· Carbon and exotic steels experience SS, Allu, Cunei, Inconel.

· Capable to read and interpret shop drawings.

· Capable to understand and follow work instructions.

· Knowledge in safety procedures.

· Understand QA/QC inspection.

· Interpersonal skills.

· Communication skills.
