Accounting Manager Job Summary

This role is responsible for overseeing the financial reporting process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards. The position involves managing the revenue recognition process, performing detailed accounting research, and effectively leading staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the month-end close process, including the recording of income, expenses, and changes in assets and liabilities in accordance with IFRS requirements.
  • Review and approve journal entries and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement trend analyses for management.
  • Prepare quarterly lender compliance packages.
  • Evaluate overall technical accounting compliance, including monitoring relevant IFRS and US GAAP developments to ensure accounting policies and procedures comply with current standards.
  • Act as an internal technical accounting expert, conducting research and preparing technical accounting memos, reviewing new and existing revenue contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally during contract negotiation, analyzing the impact of non-standard contract terms, communicating revenue impacts, and offering alternative structures.
  • Participate in quarterly forecasting procedures and annual budget processes.
  • Support annual audit and quarterly reviews, providing supporting analysis and technical accounting memos.
  • Deliver training sessions and maintain business partners abreast of developments in accounting and revenue recognition.
  • Maintain excellent customer service to other departments and stakeholders.
  • Develop and/or improve existing policies, procedures, and controls.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 7 years of financial and accounting experience with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of public accounting experience required.
Skills:
  • Strong technical accounting background with knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP, including experience with technical research and preparation of accounting memorandums.
  • Software revenue recognition a plus.
  • Able to clearly document and communicate complex accounting issues to finance and non-finance teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work in fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, multitask efficiently, and manage individuals.
  • Detailed-oriented with high ethics and integrity.
  • Experience with accounting systems, Microsoft D365 Finance experience a Plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, knowledge of complex functions and data analysis using tools like V-Lookup and Pivot Tables.
