The Role of the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager

 

Are you looking for a dynamic and challenging role in a monitoring and evaluation capacity? As the MEL Manager, you will lead and strengthen the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning function within our project operations environment.

The key result areas include:

  • Technical Engagement & Research Design:

You will collaborate with corporations and stakeholders to understand project requirements and participate in technical discussions to define research objectives and methodologies for both qualitative and quantitative studies. Your expertise will ensure that the project goals are met through effective research design.

  • Indicator Identification & Evaluation:

As part of your responsibilities, you will lead the process of identifying, evaluating, and finalizing key performance indicators and research objectives aligned with project goals. This will involve analyzing data and making recommendations for improvement.

  • Proposal Development:

You will design and develop comprehensive proposals for Monitoring & Evaluation, Impact Assessment, and Need Assessment studies, including frameworks, procedures, data collection tools, and questionnaires. These proposals will be presented to stakeholders and used as a guide for implementation.

  • Capacity Building:

In this role, you will lead training and capacity development of data collection teams, ensuring clarity on methodologies, tools, and ethical guidelines. This will enable team members to effectively implement their tasks.

  • Tool Development & Digitalization:

Another key responsibility is overseeing tool translation, finalization of skip patterns, and validation checks, and ensuring seamless conversion of paper-based questionnaires into digital formats such as CAPI or other suitable platforms.

  • Implementation & Execution:

You will drive the execution of MEL activities as per project requirements, ensuring timely data collection, adherence to protocols, and efficient field operations. Your leadership skills will play a critical role in achieving project goals.

  • Data Management & Analysis:

As part of your duties, you will supervise data review processes, including cleaning, validation, and analysis, ensuring integrity and accuracy of datasets. This involves applying statistical knowledge to extract meaningful insights from the data.

  • Reporting:

You will lead preparation of high-quality reports, translating complex data into actionable insights for stakeholders and corporate partners. Your ability to communicate effectively will make a significant difference in achieving project success.

  • Consultant & Stakeholder Management:

Finally, you will effectively manage external consultants and internal teams as required, fostering collaboration, performance tracking, and alignment with project objectives. Your relationship-building skills will help ensure successful partnerships.
