The Role of a Data Analytics Lead

Overview

This leadership role oversees the development and execution of analytics strategies that drive business insights. Key responsibilities include managing data analysis teams, developing reporting tools, and collaborating with stakeholders to translate business objectives into actionable analytics deliverables.

Data Analysis Team Management

  • Liaise between assigned business functions and the Data Analytics team to understand business objectives and translate them into actionable data requirements.
  • Prioritize and manage incoming requests from business stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Reporting Tools Development

  • Develop interactive, user-friendly dashboards and reports in Power BI.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and reporting.
  • Evaluate quality, accuracy, and consistency of analytics outputs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Foster open communication among technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of analytics deliverables.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of Data Analysts; assign work, review outputs, and provide technical guidance.

Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence, with at least 2 years in a team or project lead capacity.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Power BI development (including DAX, data modeling, performance tuning).
  • Proficient in SQL for data extraction and transformation.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, ETL concepts, and business process mapping.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Exposure to Agile methodologies and project management tools.
  • Familiarity with data warehouse concepts.
  • Exposure to ERP systems like SAP, Salesforce, or other enterprise systems is preferred.
