Job Summary

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Tax Return Preparation and Review: Responsible for thorough review and preparation of complex tax returns, including financial services clients, hedge funds, private equity, and fund of funds.
  • State Return Review: Conducts detailed review of state returns for financial services clients to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • International Filing Requirements: Identifies international filing requirements by studying organizational charts and reviewing international tax returns.
  • Training and Feedback: Trains new joiners on tax concepts and provides timely feedback on project reviews.
  • Supervision and Guidance: Supervises kick-off calls with clients, connects with US counterparts, and intervenes in conflicts, etc.
  • Tax Adjustments and Compliance: Guides staff/senior on potential tax adjustments due to tax law changes and e-filing validations.
  • Team Management and Development: Enables the team to achieve organizational goals by facilitating trainings and developing training materials for technical topics.

Requirements and Skills

  • Independent Tax Research: Ability to conduct independent tax research in unseen tax scenarios.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English.
  • Adaptability and Teamwork: Quick learner, enthusiastic, positive demeanor, and a team player willing to work long hours during busy season times.
  • Project Management: Able to meet deadlines, work based on project urgency, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Skilled in training and supervising staff, ensuring timely and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build working relationships with peers, supervisors, and US colleagues.
  • Professional Qualifications: Qualified Chartered Accountant, Certified Public Accountant (US), or IRS Enrolled Agent.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in detail review of tax returns, knowledge of relevant systems, and experience in Financial Services Returns.
