Job Title: DMSII Database Administrator

Company Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced DMSII Database Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases.

Experience:

4-6 years of experience in DMSII / Unisys Mainframe environment is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases.
  2. Monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes.
  3. Manage sets, subsets, and indexes to ensure efficient data access.
  4. Handle database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures.
  5. Support schema changes and perform database reorganizations as required.
  6. Assist in capacity planning and ensure data integrity across environments.
  7. Work closely with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues.
  8. Participate in disaster recovery testing and ensure compliance with backup policies.
  9. Implement and maintain security, audit trails, and user access controls.
  10. Document DBA processes, configuration, and recovery procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.
  • Knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration.
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.
  • Basic experience in ODBC/JDBC integration with DMSII (nice to have).
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work in rotational support shifts (if required).
Nice to Have:
  • Exposure to modernization projects (migrating from DMSII to RDBMS/cloud).
  • Knowledge of SQL/relational databases for cross-skill flexibility.
  • Experience in automation scripts for monitoring or DBA tasks.
