Backend Engineer Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Backend Engineer to take ownership of designing and implementing scalable web applications. This role demands expertise with Node.js, Firebase, and MongoDB.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Design and manage backend architecture for a high-performance application.
  • Develop user authentication and authorization mechanisms.
  • Implement logic and algorithms for user discovery and preference-based filtering.
  • Build real-time messaging systems using Firebase.
  • Integrate Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for push notifications on iOS and Android devices.
  • Optimize MongoDB schema for high-performance matchmaking and chat use cases.
  • Ensure secure API access using industry best practices.
  • Handle media uploads securely via cloud storage.
  • Implement analytics hooks for key user actions and behavior tracking.
  • Build admin APIs for user moderation, reporting, and flagging systems.
  • Maintain API performance, database health, error logs, and uptime metrics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' experience in backend development with Node.js, Firebase, and MongoDB.
  • Strong understanding of token-based authentication and security practices.
  • Experience building scalable, real-time chat or messaging systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud storage services.
  • Solid knowledge of CI/CD, monitoring, and application scaling.

A strong background in computer science and software engineering is required. You must have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
