Job Overview:

Senior Medical Coding Executive

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Medical Coding Executive to spearhead our team of experienced coders.

  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in medical coding, with a proven track record of leading large teams and driving business growth.
  • The candidate should be certified from AAPC or AHIMA, with strong leadership capabilities, exceptional communication skills, and a deep understanding of the healthcare industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead daily operations of the coding unit, including workload management, staffing, hiring, training, and quality monitoring.
  • Develop long-range and short-term goals, objectives, plans, and programs to drive business success.
  • Assist in planning, developing, and controlling operational expenses, including staffing costs and capital equipment.
  • Evaluate the impact of innovations and changes in programs, policies, and procedures for the coding unit.
  • Design and implement systems and methods to improve data accessibility, identify, assess, and resolve problems, and prepare administrative reports.
  • Oversee and monitor the coding compliance program, develop educational and training programs, and ensure regulatory updates are disseminated effectively.
  • Conduct and oversee coding audit efforts, coordinate monitoring of coding accuracy and documentation adequacy, and report non-compliance issues.
  • Conduct trend analyses to identify patterns and variations in coding practices and review claim denials and rejections pertaining to coding and medical necessity issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in any field (preferably Life Science).
  • 17+ years of experience in multispecialty coding and substantial team management experience.
  • Excellent communication, managerial, leadership, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Hands-on experience in generating reports using MS Office - Excel, Word, and MS PowerPoint.
