Product Specialist Job Description

The Product Specialist is responsible for implementing new products and enhancing existing ones. This involves delivering simple, world-class solutions by collaborating with clients to understand their needs, working closely with cross-functional project teams, and engaging with Sales to bring our solutions to market.

The Analytics group develops applications and solutions that facilitate tasks for portfolio managers, researchers, risk analysts, and performance analysts. Group members have strong financial backgrounds and understand the workflow of each of these investment professional types.

Responsibilities include efficient resource allocation among team members, actively participating in recruitment, direct and execute training, coaching, and mentoring to develop team members, solving team issues/conflicts, developing and maintaining internal documentation, having a clear understanding of clients' needs and workflows, being the first line of defense to answer questions related to Portfolio Analysis, performance, and attribution related products from sales/consultation and reconciliation team, identifying and responding to client demand for new initiatives and enhancements to analytics solutions, participating in product-focused rotations designed to teach the portfolio management process and provide exposure to multiple aspects of the Portfolio Analysis application, developing requirements' specifications and test cases from business requirements and helping engineering to understand the same, working with design team to develop Portfolio Analysis, performance and attribution related application's features, working with engineers to fix bugs, test enhancements, manage releases and client migrations, working with Knowledge Management team to help write documentation as well as internal and external client communications, ensuring ongoing quality of Portfolio Analysis products, and actively managing and sharing ideas to improve work processes and output.

  • Eligibility criteria –Skills required, Education & Experiences:
  • • Undergraduate (Bachelor's) degree in Math/Science/Statistics/Engineering/Finance or related field
  • • MBA Finance
  • • CFA or FRM or CIPM
  • • 8-14 years of experience dealing with portfolio analysis/equity analysis/fixed income analysis at both conceptual and application level, at least 2 year of team handling experience
  • • Articulate communicator, with excellent language skills – both oral and written
  • • Has good understanding of financial clients' needs and workflows
  • • Liaise effectively (both written and oral) with engineers and data providers
  • • Ability to work independently and within a group
  • • Interest in learning modern technologies/knowledge
  • • Basic understanding of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) & PDLC (Product Development Life Cycle)
  • • Prominent level of motivation
  • • Proficiency with Excel
  • Preferred Skills/qualifications/certification:
  • • Technical skills: Advanced excel/SQL
  • • Prior experience with FACTSET platform
