BIW Lead Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced BIW Lead Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and development of Passenger Car Body-in-White (BIW) structures.

About the Role:
  • This is a challenging opportunity for a mechanical engineer with 6 to 8 years of experience in Passenger Car to take on a leadership role in the BIW domain.
  • You will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of engineers and designers to develop innovative solutions for the automotive industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of BIW structures, ensuring they meet the required specifications and standards.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing and joining techniques for BIW structures, improving efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Create master sections and interpret results of structural, static, and dynamic simulations for BIW components.
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) analysis to ensure manufacturability and assembly feasibility.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables meet customer requirements.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Passenger Car as a mechanical engineer.
  • In-depth knowledge of Passenger Car Body-in-White (BIW) structure and Assembly.
  • Strong experience in UG NX, Parametric Modelling, surface modelling.
  • Experience in Manufacturing & Joining techniques of BIW structures.
  • Concept generation of the BIW components using CAD design & develop BIW panels for the automotive industry.
  • Create Master sections and interpret results of Structural, Static & Dynamic, manufacturing simulations for BIW Components.
  • In-depth knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), manufacturing feasibility, tooling feasibility of BIW components.
  • Knowledge on materials, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Stack Up analysis.
  • Team center knowledge is a must.
  • Cost Optimization Ideas on the components and assembly.
  • Involving in design reviews and packaging reviews for solutions and quick actions.
  • Aware of prototyping activities and builds.
  • Understanding the requirement of the program and managing the deliverables accordingly.
  • Handling project plan and the team.
  • Co-ordination with cross functional team.
