Database Expert

">Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled database expert to join our team. As a senior member of our infrastructure group, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our database infrastructure.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with application teams to develop solutions that integrate seamlessly with our database systems.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for database security, backup, and recovery.
  • Provide database expertise to engineering teams through reviews of database migrations, queries, and performance optimizations.
  • Collaborate with peers (DevOps, Application Engineers) to roll out changes to our production environment and help mitigate database-related production incidents.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Minimum 4-8 years of experience running MySQL/PostgreSQL databases in large environments.
  • Awareness of cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
  • Knowledge of the internals of MySQL/PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of load balancing solutions such as ProxySQL to distribute database traffic efficiently across multiple servers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-Haves

While not required, experience with the following would be beneficial:

  • Knowledge of caching (Redis / Elasticache)
  • Scripting languages (Python)
  • Infrastructure automation (Terraform/Ansible)
  • DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
