Health and Safety Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to join our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, implementing industry best practices, and proactively managing risks associated with gas manufacturing, processing, test bench, maintenance/shutdown activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Safety:
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of gas facilities (pipelines, compressors, plants, storage tanks etc.)
  • Identify, assess, and control hazards related to gas leaks, high-pressure systems, flammable materials, and confined spaces
  • Support the implementation of Permit to Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and toolbox talks
  • Monitor hot work, confined space entry, and lifting operations
  • Lead and participate in incident/near-miss investigations using root cause analysis techniques (e.g., 5-Whys, fishbone diagram)
  • Recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)
  • Maintain records and reporting systems (e.g., IMS, incident logs, audit findings)

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with national and international safety laws and standards (e.g., PESO, OSHA, ISO 14001, 45001)
  • Assist in the preparation of safety plans, risk assessments, and HAZOP/HAZID/HIRA studies
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and emergency response protocols

Training & Culture:

  • Conduct safety inductions, refresher training, and drills (fire, gas leak, evacuation)
  • Promote behavioral safety and safety leadership among operations staff
  • Contribute to safety campaigns, awareness sessions, and audits

Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Analyze leading and lagging indicators (TRIR, LTIFR, near-miss rate)
  • Report safety KPIs to management and regulatory authorities
  • Recommend engineering controls or administrative procedures for risk reduction

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant field (e.g., occupational health and safety, environmental science) and at least 3 years of experience in a similar role. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
