About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Cloud Database Migration Expert with strong expertise in upgrading SQL Server to 2022, implementing Always On Availability Groups, and migrating databases to AWS. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring high performance, availability, security, and scalability of mission-critical databases.

  • Lead and execute cloud database migration projects using SQL Server upgrade methodologies.
  • Design, configure, and manage Always On Availability Groups (HA/DR) in production environments for optimal uptime.
  • Plan and implement database migrations to AWS services like RDS, EC2, or other hybrid solutions with minimal downtime.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL Server performance by reviewing queries, indexes, statistics, and execution plans.
  • Perform regular backups, restores, and disaster recovery testing to ensure business continuity.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to guarantee database reliability and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including runbooks and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, policies, and best practices.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.
  • Proven track record of successfully upgrading SQL Server to 2022 in production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Always On Availability Groups and other HA/DR solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database migration (DMS, RDS, EC2, or hybrid solutions).
  • Proficiency in T-SQL development, performance tuning, and query optimization.
  • Solid understanding of backup/recovery strategies and database security.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell or automation tools for database administration is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
