About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Security Engineer to join our Ethos Trust and Safety team. As a critical member of this team, you will play a key role in developing security services and conducting technical security risk assessments to support our main product.

Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and deploying security mechanisms to protect against adversarial attacks, data breaches, and other security vulnerabilities by implementing foundational security principles like least privilege, defence in depth, segregation of duties, and zero-trust architecture.

You will also be responsible for designing and building robust threat detection, monitoring, investigation workflows, response architectures, and the components of the security analytics platform. Additionally, you will monitor and evaluate operational/security alerts to ensure prompt action is taken.

Other key responsibilities will include conducting Threat Modeling, Design Reviews, and Security Testing to identify and mitigate potential risks. You will also communicate risks to engineering staff through training and technical demonstration of vulnerabilities and secure design patterns.

Furthermore, you will partner with the DevOps team to orchestrate/automate security controls in the infrastructure/platform. You will also lead the vulnerability management lifecycle at the infrastructure, platform, and application levels.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will participate in investigations, threat hunting, and incident response activities; build playbooks for specific incident response scenarios. Lastly, you will assist with compliance activities, such as SOC2 control implementation and testing, vendor risk assessments, etc.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Over 10 years of full-time core InfoSec experience.
  • Intimate familiarity with AWS cloud security and experience automating security processes in cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in threat modelling, design reviews, and security testing of various types of applications, technologies, and platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools.
  • Ability to write automation scripts in multiple languages.
  • Experience in vulnerability/threat management activities at the infrastructure, platform, and application level.
  • Experience with penetration tests/red team exercises, including manual verification, exploitation, lateral movement, etc.
  • Expertise with event management/SIEM solutions and data modeling associated with building event detection and alerting capabilities.
