At Palo Alto Networks, we're looking for a Staff IT Software Engineer to join our Infrastructure Platform Engineering team. This role plays a critical part in shaping the future of cybersecurity.

About the Job
  • We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Staff IT Software Engineer who will design, build, and deploy scalable, secure, and efficient microservices solutions for Infrastructure.
  • The ideal candidate will play a critical role in mentoring other engineers and contributing to our technology strategy.

You will be working closely with cross-functional teams including SREs, Network Engineers, product teams, and security engineers to align development efforts with business objectives.

Your Impact
  • Software Development - Design, develop, and maintain scalable infrastructure services across verticals such as Network, Compute, DB, IAM, Security etc..
  • System Design - Architect and implement complex systems with a focus on scalability, security, and reliability.
  • Microservices Development - Build and support production-grade microservices using REST or GraphQL API frameworks.
  • Cloud Platforms - Leverage public cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) to build and deploy software while ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Orchestration & Optimization - Implement infrastructure orchestration services and frameworks to optimize deployment pipelines and reduce manual effort.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on infrastructure and software development.
  • Expertise in relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python/Go/NodeJS/Java.
  • Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.
  • Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
  • Proven experience of using AI tools for day-to-day use-cases specially in SW engineering.
  • Good knowledge and experience of building Gen-AI enabled solutions - RAG workflows, Agents, MCP Servers, Agentic solutions.
  • Proficiency in containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a critical thinking mindset.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
