Job Description

We are seeking a skilled External Data Optimizer to join our team. This role will be responsible for optimizing the use and reuse of external data assets.

The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies that increase data visibility, promote reuse, and reduce costs associated with external data purchases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive data catalog that harmonizes metadata across functions to facilitate data reuse and informed future investments.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities to optimize external data spend and develop recommendations to support investment approval.
  • Work with Global Strategic Sourcing and Cyber Security teams to standardize data contracts and enable the reuse of data assets across functions.
  • Develop internal expertise on external data content to increase reuse across teams through training and knowledge sharing initiatives.
  • Design data standardization rules to make external data FAIR from the start in collaboration with the Data Engineering team.
  • Maintain data quality and ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and contractual policies.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Must-Have Skills:

  • Experience managing external data assets used in the life-science industry.
  • Technical data management skills with in-depth knowledge of Pharma data standards and regulations.
  • Awareness of industry trends and priorities and ability to apply to governance and policies.

Good-to-Have Skills:

  • Ability to successfully execute complex projects in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Basic programming skills and experience with data visualization and data modeling tools.
