Job Description

The Data Engineer will be responsible for developing, transforming and maintaining business data objects sourced from various internal and external systems.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Designing, building and maintaining large-scale data infrastructure.
  • Collaborating with the Data Analyst team to understand visualization requirements and assist in building visualizations and dashboards that meet business needs.
  • Ensuring the security and integrity of published data by implementing appropriate access controls and data protection measures.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed as a Data Engineer, you will need the following skills and qualifications:

  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of data modeling principles and techniques.
    • Proficiency in SQL coding, including complex queries, joins, and subqueries.
    • Knowledgeable with data warehousing concepts, including ETL processes, dimensional modeling, and data mart design.
    • Knowledge of or experience in data vault methodology.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Ability to develop and optimize stored procedures for data manipulation and transformation.
    • Experience in requirements gathering, including eliciting, analyzing, and documenting business requirements.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies or working in Sprint-based development teams.
    • Proficiency in using Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Birst, PowerBI, and Tableau for data visualization and reporting.
    • Familiarity with modern Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) and Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) processes and tools.
    • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS).
    A Day in the Life of a Data Engineer

A typical day for a Data Engineer includes:

  • Developing and enhancing modeled Data Sets within visualization tools.
  • Collaborating with the Data Analyst team to understand visualization requirements and assist in building visualizations and dashboards that meet business needs.
  • Ensuring the security and integrity of published data by implementing appropriate access controls and data protection measures.
Education Requirements

We require applicants to hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in any field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
