Conventional Mortgage Underwriting Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Conventional Mortgage Underwriting Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and underwriting mortgage loans in accordance with established policies and procedures.

You will examine all documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring that the loan meets the required criteria. Your attention to detail and ability to make informed decisions will play a crucial role in minimizing risk factors and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines.

As a Conventional Mortgage Underwriting Specialist, you will work closely with other departments to ensure seamless communication and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze mortgage loan applications to ensure eligibility, accuracy, and completeness
  • Examine all required loan data, reports, and inspections to ensure collateral is acceptable to investors and the company
  • Apply knowledge of lending and underwriting guidelines, credit and income analysis, cash flow analysis, risk assessment, loan-to-value ratios, and debt-to-income ratios
  • Verify loan, property, and borrower information with other available documents
  • Calculate asset requirements for closing and reserve purposes
  • Making independent decisions regarding acceptance and risk of loans according to HUD, company, and investor guidelines

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in conventional/govt end-to-end underwriting
  • Well-versed in all 4Cs of Underwriting (Asset, Income, Credit, and Collateral)
