Senior Piping Checker

Job Summary

As a Senior Piping Checker at Bechtel Corporation, you will be responsible for reviewing the work of designers and drafters to ensure compliance with approved design standards. This includes checking layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models, and construction drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Monitor and check work for compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation, and construction economy.
2. Act as the overall Piping Isometrics Coordinator for assigned projects, responsible for delivering the complete Isometrics program, including revision isometrics management.
3. Coordinate or make site visits to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents.
4. Review or identify engineering scope changes for project management.
5. Prepare reports of work progress for project and discipline use.
6. Support the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
7. Participate in equipment design and nozzle orientations checking, system design, including concept sketches and layouts checking, reviewing and checking designs, drawings, and vendor data, reviewing engineering studies and reports, reviewing material quantity estimates, and reviewing and checking UG and AG piping isometrics.
8. Review design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a moderate degree of complexity and prepare comments and recommendations.
9. Assist in preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs, and change orders.
10. Assist in on-the-job training of people assigned and understand roles played by other disciplines on the project.

Requirements:

1. A recognized Diploma/Degree in an engineering or scientific discipline.
2. Extensive experience in design and drafting.
3. Technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and construction methods and materials, and application of computer-aided engineering (CAE)/computer-aided design (CAD) tools to engineering problems.
4. Basic skill in oral and written communication.
