Senior Legal Professional

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in managing complex legal affairs and providing strategic guidance to senior management. The role involves significant interaction with various stakeholders, including senior management, external counsel, and internal teams.

  • Provide legal advice on a wide range of issues, influencing strategic decision-making.
  • Assist with litigation strategy and manage outside counsel relationships.
  • Oversee the legal aspects of business operations.
  • Provide legal support in business acquisitions and throughout the project life cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead equity deals and ensure closure of deals and any other outstanding issues with the other party.
  • Draft, negotiate, and finalize contracts with third-party vendors, suppliers, consultants, etc., and other contracts.
  • Support the Corporate Finance team in SPV governance, relating to investor relationships.
  • Defend indemnity claims related to corporate funding/sale of assets transactions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Corporate Deals: Manage corporate deal lifecycle from initiation to closure.
  • Contracts: Oversee contracts function from the legal team, drafting, negotiating, and finalizing contracts with third-party EPC vendors, suppliers, consultants, etc.
  • M&A/Corporate Finance: Support the Corporate Finance team in M&A transactions.
  • Litigations:
  • Support decision-making regarding strategic litigations.
  • Business Acquisition: Support the Business Acquisition team in participating in competitive bids.
  • Policy Advocacy: Provide general legal advisory on strategy and interpretation of draft/new regulations.
  • Formulation of processes/SOPs/Strategy documents as per business requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Law graduate from a reputable law school.
  • Work experience of around 15+ years in multinational companies, preferably in power/infrastructure/energy sectors.
  • Desired Characteristics:
  • Sound commercial understanding of power/energy business and government tenders/projects.
  • Team player with ability to successfully engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
