Backend Engineering Manager Job Overview

This is a senior leadership role within our engineering organization, responsible for leading and managing high-performing backend engineering teams.

  • Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage 10+ engineers in a backend engineering team.

  • Successfully run performance appraisal cycles with structured feedback and progression planning.
  • Build and maintain a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
Technical & Product Delivery

This role oversees the design and development of backend systems operating at scale. It involves guiding the team in building transactional systems and behavioral systems, partnering with product managers to scope, prioritize, and release B2C product features and applications, ensuring architectural best practices, high-quality code standards, and robust testing practices.

  • Key Technical Skills:
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Golang and Python.
  • Proven track record with high-scale systems (≥10K RPM).
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms.
Operational Excellence

As a Backend Engineering Manager, you will champion observability, monitoring, and reliability across backend services. You will continuously improve system performance, scalability, and resilience. You will also streamline development workflows and engineering processes for speed and quality.

  • Requirements:
  • Experience: 9+ years of professional experience in backend technologies.
  • 2–3 years as an Engineering Manager, leading teams and driving delivery.
