Job Overview

The role of Kidswear Buyer involves overseeing the purchasing and coordination of merchandise for designated departments. This includes finding the best resources at optimal prices to ensure high-quality products that meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • To develop and implement a divisional buying and merchandising strategy, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Work closely with the merchandising team to ensure timely deliveries and satisfaction of assigned purchase orders.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential future product offerings, staying up-to-date with customer needs and technological trends.
  • Collaborate with the marketing department to plan pricing strategies and negotiate with suppliers for optimal costs and margins.
  • Source and develop the right products at the right time to meet customer demands.
  • Maximize current sourcing channels and explore new opportunities to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Support negotiations with suppliers and work closely with designers on style development, design research trips, fabric, and print advice.
  • Work closely with merchandising, management of stock, style options, quantities, promotions, and markdowns.
  • Monitor competitor activities through market research to track trends, forecasting, color, and fabric.
  • Review and adjust season plans and weekly plans to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Identify and develop vendors to obtain range merchandise after effective negotiation.
  • Work with marketing and design to develop visual merchandising promotions in line with theme and product launches.
  • Ensure timely delivery of samples by vendors.
  • Set standards for quality of merchandise with QA.
  • Reconcile to store plans and fix departmental financial plans.
  • Conduct annual review of supplier performance with QA.
  • Pursue and recover all money due from vendors as a result of performance penalties or markdown and promotional contributions.
  • Regularly update the front-end on key product benefits.
