Kafka Migration Engineer

As a migration engineer specializing in Apache Kafka, you will design and implement automated pipelines to move enterprise workloads to open-source or cloud-native clusters.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in scripting languages such as Python, Go, and Bash, as well as experience with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes. Strong knowledge of Kafka administration, migration, and CI/CD processes is also required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement automated migration pipelines for moving enterprise workloads to open-source or cloud-native clusters.
  • Script and provision migration steps, automate validation, rollback, and monitoring tasks.
  • Develop and integrate custom plugins for Kafka Connect as part of migration workflows.
  • Build scalable CI/CD processes for resource provisioning and configuration rollouts.
  • Ensure automated tests cover data integrity, performance, and integration interfaces post-migration.
  • Integrate with cloud orchestration tools like AWS MSK and Kubernetes operators, manage infrastructure-as-code.

  • CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Apache Kafka administration and migration
  • Scripting (Python, Go, Bash)
  • Kafka Connect custom plugin API, Maven/Gradle
  • Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Monitoring/validation: Prometheus, Grafana
  • Automation of rollback/validation steps for migrations
  • Exposure to cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Data ops and security automation
