Job Title: Data Platform Engineering Lead

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Data Platform Engineering Lead to design and scale our core data foundation.

The successful candidate will lead the development of clean, scalable models, drive data platform strategy, and enable a high-velocity product development culture.

Key responsibilities include architecting, developing, and maintaining a robust semantic layer, modular dbt pipelines, schema design, documentation, and data contracts across the analytics and application layer, defining and enforcing data platform best practices, versioning, and governance for all data models.

Additionally, the individual will implement data testing, observability, and quality automation to ensure confidence at scale, guide tool selection and platform evolution across the modern data stack, collaborate with engineering, product, and analytics teams to ship reliable data-backed features, and mentor a growing team of engineers and participate in architecture planning and reviews.

Requirements:

10+ years of experience in backend or data engineering roles, deep experience designing and maintaining normalized and dimensional data models, advanced expertise in dbt (macros, packages, tests, modularization, docs), expert in SQL, with a focus on PostgreSQL, strong Python scripting for transformation logic and automation.

Desirable Skills:

Proven experience with tools in the modern data stack, including dbt (Cloud or Core), PostgreSQL (primary engine), Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect for orchestration, Great Expectations or dbt tests for data quality, Fivetran, Airbyte, or custom loaders for ingestion, Github Actions, Gitlab CI, or CircleCI for CI/CD, Terraform or IaC for platform provisioning (Snowflake, dbt Cloud, PostgreSQL configs).

Leadership & Communication:

6+ years in engineering leadership, architecture, or tech lead roles, excellent collaboration skills across engineering, product, and analytics, strong communicator—can author technical documentation and explain system tradeoffs.
