Job Description:

The role of a Grant Acquisition Specialist involves researching and identifying funding opportunities for the organization, collaborating with the team to develop compelling concepts, and crafting proposals to secure grant funds for various initiatives.

This position requires close collaboration with the Foundation team to gain a deep understanding of the program's details and nuances. The specialist should be able to effectively communicate the program's story in a proposal tailored to specific donors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand the organization's vision, objectives, outcomes, growth, and financial requirements.
  • Research grant opportunities from various sources, including institutional grants, CSR funding, government bodies, individual donors, etc.
  • Draft high-quality grant proposals and supporting documents aligned with the organization's needs.
  • Submit proposals to the Foundation and fundraising team for review and approval.
  • Respond to internal and external queries regarding drafted and submitted proposals.
  • Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities.
  • Contribute to effective communication of the organization's work, grants received, outcomes achieved, etc., on social media to enhance its reputation.
  • Take ownership of submitted proposals and proactively work towards successfully converting at least one grant RFP per quarter.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree with 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 2-3 years prior experience as a proposal writer with a grant-seeking organization and history of submitting successful proposals.
  • Knowledge or deep interest in the natural world, conservation, and sustainability.
  • Ability to grasp and convey the nuances of the organization's work.
  • Prior knowledge of fundraising sources for biodiversity and conservation communication is desirable.
  • Analytical thinker who can structure a proposal that conveys the program and its outcomes in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and time-zones.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. Self-driven and motivated.
  • Effective communication skills both in writing and verbally. Proficiency in MS Word, PPT, and Excel is required.
