Job Overview

As a DMSII Database Administrator, you are responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of our DMSII databases on Unisys mainframes. This includes installation, configuration, and administration of databases, as well as monitoring performance, space utilization, and availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure DMSII databases to meet business requirements
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance
  • Manage sets, subsets, and indexes to ensure efficient data access and retrieval
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity
  • Collaborate with application and system teams to resolve performance or access issues
  • Participate in capacity planning and ensure data integrity across environments
  • Implement and maintain security, audit trails, and user access controls
  • Document DBA processes, configuration, and recovery procedures for knowledge sharing

Requirements

  • Proven experience with Unisys DMSII database administration (3-5 years)
  • Strong hands-on experience with DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools
  • Knowledge of COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration
  • Familiarity with batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in ODBC/JDBC integration with DMSII
  • Knowledge of SQL/relational databases for cross-skill flexibility
  • Experience in automation scripts for monitoring or DBA tasks
