Strategic Position
  • Drive thought leadership and process excellence by identifying opportunities for automation and implementing changes to enhance team productivity.
  • Support senior leaders in adopting and executing overall strategy, as well as delivering operational results encompassing accounting review standards and best practices.
  • Maintain a self-driven and motivated approach with a focus on operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Effectively identify risks, cost efficiencies, and operational improvements.
Operational Oversight
  • Project Management: Oversee the review and delivery of financial statements and other accounting reports.
  • Technical Expertise: Ensure adherence to US GAAP and IFRS; manage technical research and application.
  • Client Service Delivery: Maintain high service levels and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Documentation: Ensure all accounting review activities are well-documented and readily accessible.
  • Performance & Risk Management: Prepare and present performance and risk reports to stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Address and resolve technical and disclosure issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Escalation Management: Escalate issues at the right time and level to prevent unnecessary delays.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are essential for success in this role.
Leadership and Development
  • Team Management: Provide guidance and support to the accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.
  • Supervise employees to ensure quality and productivity, while also providing opportunities for growth and development.
  • Lead a medium-sized team effectively, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and communication.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a cross-cultural team to drive business outcomes.
  • Develop strong presentation and communication skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
Governance and Risk Management
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal and external reporting deadlines, maintaining transparency and integrity throughout the process.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks in performance and reporting, ensuring a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
  • Escalation Management: Escalate issues at the right time and level to prevent unnecessary delays and minimize risk.
  • Collaborate effectively with senior-level stakeholders to communicate issues, risks, and solutions in a clear and concise manner.
  • Manage technical research and application of US GAAP to accounting issues, staying up-to-date with the latest developments and best practices.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Professional Qualifications:
  • Chartered Accountant or Master's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or Finance.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in operations within the financial services industry, with at least 3 years managing teams of more than 4 members.
  • Personal Attributes:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead a medium-sized team.
  • Support senior leaders in adopting and executing accounting review standards and best practices.
