Design Engineer Role Overview

As a key player in the design and development of complex mechanical systems and equipment, this position requires expertise in designing and executing plans to meet specifications. Collaboration with customers and marketing teams is essential to determine design requirements.

Mechanical Design Responsibilities
  • Meet with vendors and design teams to discuss mechanical applications and requirements.
  • Determine project requirements through collaboration with project managers.
  • Conduct research to inform design and engineering methods for mechanical systems.
  • Execute mechanical designs using computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and 3D CAD programs.
  • Perform simulations and experiments to test and refine designs virtually.
  • Oversee the development and manufacturing of physical prototypes for testing.
  • Document the design process, iterations, and test analytics.
  • Liaise with designers, engineers, and manufacturers to ensure coherence.
  • Prepare technical reports, design specifications documents, and operational manuals.

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a minimum of one year of experience as a mechanical design engineer. Proficiency in engineering design programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Rhino is essential. Additionally, the candidate should have sound knowledge of design and engineering principles and best practices, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and exceptional time management and organizational skills.

Preferred qualifications include past experience in design engineering of meter mix machines, dispensing equipment, pumps, and hand tools. The ability to stay up-to-date with advancements in technology and engineering design trends is also beneficial.
