Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Property Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of our property management and real estate portfolios. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, property management, and real estate finance.

The successful candidate will work closely with key stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising AP processes (not data entry, but oversight and approvals).
  • Handling cash management decisions (shortages, prioritization of payments, etc.).
  • Reviewing financial packages, draws, and compliance-related documents (e.g., RFR requests).
  • Providing guidance to staff accountants, resolving elevated issues, and interacting with property management.

A long-term expectation is that staff accountants may turnover, but the manager role provides stability and continuity.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A CPA/CA/MBA degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of total experience in RTR, GL profile. Strong accounting knowledge.
  • 3+ years of experience as a property accountant (Multifamily is a must), preferably in the real estate or property management sector.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, Yardi, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

You should also have strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service, and ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
