Video Quality Assurance Specialist

  • We are seeking a skilled Quality Assurance Engineer with expertise in testing OTT platforms and video streaming protocols to ensure seamless user experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and 6+ years of experience in QA engineering with at least 1-2 years in the OTT or media streaming industry.
  • This role requires a deep understanding of video streaming workflows, including encoding, packaging, and delivery, as well as compatibility with protocols like HLS and DASH.
  • The successful candidate will also be responsible for testing DRM-protected content and monetization features, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to test automation frameworks.
Responsibilities:
  1. Manual and Automated Testing: Develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases for OTT platforms, including video playback, UI/UX, and streaming performance.
  2. Streaming Workflows: Test video streaming workflows, including encoding, packaging, and delivery, ensuring compatibility with protocols like HLS and DASH.
  3. Content Delivery: Validate content delivery across multiple platforms (iOS, Android, Roku, Smart TVs, web browsers) and CDNs (e.g., Akamai, CloudFront).
  4. Testing: Perform functional, regression, performance, and compatibility testing for OTT applications.
  5. Defect Tracking: Identify, document, and track defects using tools like Jira or Bugzilla, working closely with developers to resolve issues.
  6. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, product managers, DevOps) to ensure high-quality releases.
  7. Test Automation: Contribute to test automation frameworks using tools like Selenium, Appium, or custom Python scripts.
  8. Streaming Quality Metrics: Monitor and validate streaming quality metrics (e.g., buffering, bitrate switching, latency) using tools like Charles Proxy or Wireshark.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of experience as a QA Engineer
  • At least 1-2 years in the OTT or media streaming industry
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Deep understanding of video streaming protocols and OTT platform testing requirements
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and tools
