Job Overview

The role of Network Operations Specialist – Firewall involves providing technical support and ensuring the smooth operation of IT network services. This position requires a deep understanding of network technologies, including TCP/IP, VRRP, DNS, ARP, STP, Trunking, Port Channeling, VRF, IPsec, and TLS.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in network services and management in complex environments, with proficiency in routing protocols such as OSPF, ISIS, BGP, Route Policy, QoS, VRRP, Multicast, LDP, and MPLS. Additionally, hands-on experience with FortiGate Firewall and proxy or equivalent is necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyzing production network issues and resolving them promptly
  • Providing guidance to NOC team members during operational shift support
  • Owning incident ticket resolution from start to finish and finding ways to resolve or provide technical workarounds
  • Ensuring timely provision of technical updates during incident management
  • Engaging OEM and service providers to troubleshoot issues and escalating for resolution
  • Elevating very complex network issues to L4 engineers for support
  • Conducting regular security assessments and audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or engineering degree in Telecommunications/Information Technology/Computer Science or equivalent
  • Deep understanding of network technologies: TCP/IP, VRRP, DNS, ARP, STP, Trunking, Port Channeling, VRF, IPsec, and TLS
  • Proficient in routing protocols such as OSPF, ISIS, BGP, Route Policy, QoS, VRRP, Multicast, LDP, and MPLS
  • Hands-on experience with FortiGate Firewall and proxy or equivalent
  • Knowledge of IPv6 WAN routing architecture and deployment expertise

Prior experience with scripting and automation tools for network management, knowledge of Nokia Router product, and expertise in handling complex routing design and issues in multi-vendor environments are highly desirable. A good understanding of Enterprise WAN, LAN, wireless networks, virtualization, and load balancers is also beneficial. Familiarity with ITIL processes can be an added advantage.
