Job Description

As a Senior Data Architect, you will be a key member of our Professional Services team.

Senior Data Architects function as technical leads and trusted advisors, working on complex distributed data business problems for various organizations.

You will lead, evangelize, and collaboratively work with customers to advise them on the rollout of reference enterprise data architectures, identify and drive development of use cases, analyze, and recommend solutions to distributed computing challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Educating and motivating customers on their Enterprise Data Cloud journey
  • Participating in pre- and post-sales processes to assist sales, professional services management, and product teams in interpreting customer use cases
  • Assisting customers in defining their data strategy, use case success criteria, and frameworks to deliver successful implementations
  • Designing and implementing Enterprise Data Cloud architectures and configurations for customers
  • Identifying and growing professional services engagements and support subscriptions through clear demonstrations of value to customers
  • Designing, creating, and recommending standard best practices design patterns for distributed data pipelines and analytical computing architectures
  • Planning and delivering presentations and workshops to customer/internal stakeholders
  • Mentoring junior consultants and architects
  • Helping define our approach and screening candidates in the technical hiring process
  • Writing and producing technical documentation, blogs, and knowledge base articles
Required Skills and Qualifications

We are looking for individuals who have:

  • A passion for solving real-world problems with cutting-edge technology
  • Extensive customer-facing/consulting experience interacting with large-scale distributed data/computing solutions
  • A strong business understanding of how Cloudera technologies solve real-world business problems
  • An appreciation of commercial business cases driving customer data platform initiatives
  • Experience managing project delivery and leading a technical team
  • Strong experience designing, architecting, and implementing software solutions in an enterprise Linux environment
  • Excellent communication skills, experience with public speaking, and ability to present to a wide range of audiences
  • Proven knowledge of big data/analytical use cases and best practice approaches to implement solutions
  • Strong experience with Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Experience with open-source ecosystem programming languages (Python, Java, Scala, Spark)
  • Knowledge of the data management ecosystem, including concepts of data warehousing, ETL, data integration, etc.
  • Experience designing frameworks for implementing data transformation and processing solutions on Hadoop or related technologies
  • Strong understanding of authentication and authorization configuration for Hadoop-based distributed systems
  • Deep knowledge of the Data/Big Data business domain
  • Familiarity with BI tools and Data Science notebooks (Cloudera Data Science Workbench, Apache Zeppelin, Jupyter, IBM Watson Studio)
  • Knowledge of scripting tools (bash shell scripts, Python, Perl)
  • Familiarity with DevOps methodology and toolsets and automation experience with Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or Jenkins
