Job Title: Payment Processing Specialist

The Payment Processing Specialist ensures the integrity of financial data and supports revenue cycle operations by accurately processing payments and adjustments to patient accounts based on Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), electronic remittance advice (ERA), and other payment documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process insurance payments, ERAs, and patient payments into dental billing software with accuracy.
  • Reconcile deposits with bank statements and daily payment reports to ensure all payments are accounted for.
  • Review EOBs and ERAs to identify underpayments, overpayments, and denials.
  • Flag and escalate discrepancies or trends in denials or payment issues to the relevant department.
  • Apply adjustments according to payer contracts and internal policies.
  • Maintain accurate patient accounts and balances.
  • Collaborate with the appeals or collections team for timely resolution of denied or unpaid claims.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Achieve daily and monthly productivity and accuracy goals.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience in payment processing.
  • Experience with dental management software.
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Fluent English proficiency.
