MEP CAD Technician Role

The MEP CAD Technician plays a pivotal role in the design and delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health services by creating accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models.

This position involves working closely with engineers, designers, and project teams to ensure coordinated, detailed, and compliant documentation that supports efficient project delivery.

Main Responsibilities:

  • CAD Drawing Preparation: Prepare detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical, electrical, and public health systems in AutoCAD and/or Revit (BIM).
  • Design Collaboration: Work closely with MEP Engineers and Designers to translate design concepts into coordinated drawings.
  • Compliance and Quality: Ensure drawings comply with project requirements, building regulations, industry standards, and company CAD/BIM protocols.
  • Documentation Support: Assist in the development of coordinated services drawings, clash detection, and model updates.
  • Organizational Skills: Maintain drawing registers, file management systems, and revision control.
  • Project Support: Support project teams in producing tender, construction, and as-built drawings.
Requirements and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will require:

  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential) and Revit MEP/BIM (preferred).
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in preparing MEP drawings and understanding of building services design.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with British Standards, Building Regulations, and industry codes of practice.
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, good communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage workload, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
Bonus Requirements

Experience with Navisworks, clash detection, or other BIM coordination tools is desirable but not essential for the role.
