Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair mechanical systems onboard ships and repairs to various heavy machinery in workshop according to work orders, drawings and instruction by supervisor.">
  • Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs to mechanical systems to prevent further damage.">

Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

Education

">
  • ">
  • A technical qualification such as a certificate in mechanical engineering or equivalent.">

Experience

">
  • ">
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a marine mechanic.">
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the oil/gas/marine industry in the installation and repair of mechanical shipboard systems.">

Skills

  • ">
  • Working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of propulsion systems.">
  • Working knowledge of the methods of overhaul and repair of engines, generators, gear boxes, Shaft alignments, Chock fasting and valves.">
  • Working knowledge of safety precautions in the mechanical trade.">
  • Ability to use tools and equipment necessary to affect repairs.">
  • Ability to read piping and mechanical drawings.">
  • Shall be able to use and interpret laser alignment tools.">
  • Working knowledge of the characteristics of various types of engines and their pipelines.">
  • Undertake pressure testing of Hydraulic systems.">
