Job Title: Server Administrator and Backend Programmer

We are seeking a highly skilled Server Administrator and Backend Programmer to join our engineering team at NyQuest Innovation Labs. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in server-side management and backend programming.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Server Management & Monitoring: Oversee the server infrastructure to ensure high availability, reliability, and optimal performance.
  • Database Management: Write, optimize and execute SQL queries for efficient data retrieval, updates and overall database management.
  • Code Maintenance: Maintain the Laravel codebase of the project, ensuring its stability and performance.
  • Data Security & Backup: Implement robust data backup and recovery protocols to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Capacity Planning & Scaling: Engage in capacity planning, performance tuning, and system scaling to support organizational growth.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in server security, maintenance, and operational procedures.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Implement and maintain standard operating procedures for infrastructure upkeep, including hardening of servers and configuration of load balancers and firewalls.
Requirements:
  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in server-side management and backend programming.
  • Backend Development: Experience in maintaining backend codebases, specifically in Laravel.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and optimizing code for performance.
  • SQL Proficiency: Strong command of SQL querying for data management, analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Server Environments: Solid understanding of managing Ubuntu servers.
  • Monitoring & Uptime: Experience with server monitoring tools to ensure high performance and uptime.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably DigitalOcean) for server deployment and management.
  • Security Expertise: Knowledge of system security protocols, including intrusion detection systems and server hardening practices.
  • Development Skills: Working knowledge of PHP and project deployment, with a focus on maintaining rather than developing new features.
  • MQTT Brokers: Experience handling MQTT brokers is a plus.
  • Scripting Proficiency: Knowledge of server-side scripting languages like Python, Shell, or Bash is advantageous.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to thrive in high-pressure environments.
  • Teamwork & Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork with both technical and non-technical teams.
