
Product Design and Buying Director

At our company, we're expanding our design vision and buying strategy. We're seeking a dynamic leader to drive our product & design team's seasonal collections.
This role will be pivotal in creating products that resonate with our community while balancing creativity, commercial viability, and speed to market.
We're looking for someone with ~10 years of experience in D2C fashion design, buying, or merchandising – athleisure/activewear experience in men's and women's wear is a must.
The ideal candidate should have a strong eye for fashion trends, consumer behavior, and product innovation. Proven ability to balance design aesthetics with commercial outcomes is essential.
The right person will have excellent vendor management and negotiation skills, as well as leadership experience in managing teams and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the product & design team to develop seasonal collections aligned with our brand identity and consumer needs.
- Translate global trends, consumer insights, and brand strategy into product lines.
- Ensure innovation in fabrics, silhouettes, and functionality for athleisure and lifestyle segments.
- Oversee sampling, prototyping, and quality benchmarking.
- Define assortment strategies across categories, price points, and channels.
- Build supplier/vendor partnerships for fabrics, trims, and finished goods.
- Negotiate costs, MOQs, and timelines to optimize margins and speed.
- Maintain balanced inventory: fast movers, core basics, and newness.
- Collaborate closely with Marketing, Operations, and Finance to ensure design and buying plans meet growth and profitability targets.
- Degree in Fashion Design/Merchandising/Business or related field.
